The Treasury begins to pay the losses incurred by the Reserve Bank

The cost of the large-scale asset purchase program will rise as interest rates rise.

Treasury Secretary Dr Caralee McLiesh has been authorized to spend $150 million to $200 million a month to pay for losses the Reserve Bank is incurring on its large-scale asset purchase program.

These payments will likely increase as New Zealand Debt Management begins to buy back government bonds
