The town of Summerville, South Carolina lies 20 miles west
of Charleston, SC nestled on the Atlantic coast is the mild Southeast. Summerville has long been known as "Flowertown USA" and
is world famous for it's Azalea bushes. Every year in the springtime the Annual Flowertown Festival is held and attracts visits
from throughout the United States and abroad. Also known as the Azalea Festival, it featured some of the world's best Azaleas.
The first issue of the Summerville Local Post was released
on December 21st,2009 and featured Azalea Park in bloom, located on Main St. in Summerville, SC.
On December 25th, 2009, an issue of four stamps was
issued featuring the Chanakuh celebration held in Summerville on December 12th, 2009. The issue had the same designs as Zion's
Local Post issue honoring the Summerville Chavurah.
On January 25th, 2010, an issue for World Local Post Day
featuring "Save the whales!" theme was issued.
On April 28th, 2010, an issue honoring Horse Racing An American
Tradition was issued.
On June 21st, 2010 the post issued a World Cup
2010 pair of stamps honoring the US World Cup team.
On June 22nd, 2010 the post reissued the USA vs. England
World Cup 2010 issue correcting the flag of England.
On June 23rd, 2010 the post issued the USA vs. Algeria issue
in honor of the USA's historic World Cup win and move to the 16 team round.
On June 26th, 2010 the Summerville Local Post
honored the Stingray Chapter #25 Knights of Pythias. The chapter which is the auxiliary of Knights of Pythias Stonewall-Jasper
Lodge #6 meets in Charleston but all but one member are residents of Summerville.
